ABOUT MARIANNE
I grew up in Adelaide and undertook my General Nurse training at the Adelaide Children's Hospital and my Midwifery Training at the Queen Victoria Hospital. I moved back to Adelaide in 2013 after living in Sydney for 24 years where I worked at the Sydney Adventist Hospital in the Lactation Department there as a Consultant in a very busy Maternity Unit.
My skills lie in the areas of solving breastfeeding problems and any issues the mums and babies may be experiencing, but I am also an educator and can offer advice on preparation for breastfeeding before your baby is born.
I am passionate about breastfeeding and about helping mothers to achieve the "skill" of being able to breastfeed their babies and give them this start in life. I believe that in our modern society breastfeeding can be a "challenging" thing to do at first, mainly due to the fact that we no longer grow up learning the skill from our family members as we would have in the tribal or community village situation. In the early days breastfeeding can present a new mum with issues such as sore nipples, engorgement, supply and settling problems.
A typical visit from me would include an assessment of your current situation, help, advice and suggestions on solving any problems you are experiencing, time to discuss any other related issues, and then, as part of my services, I offer free follow up by phone, text or email for as long as you need me. I can certainly visit more than once if necessary.
